The information age has revolutionised people’s jobs and the way in which they apply for jobs. In the past 40 years many new jobs relating to technology have opened up giving millions of people around the world the opportunity to make use of their skills and in fact learn new skills. The information age has also change the way in which practically any job can be advertised with many industries making use of technology.

New jobs appearing:
The technological world has sprung up millions of new jobs relating to the technology era. Jobs ranging from say a “network manager” to “professional web designer”. All of these types of jobs have opened up in the last 40 years thanks to technology. 40 years ago standard computers were not a thing and now there a jobs for people to perform various actions using computers. Also many jobs which in the last 10 years didn’t involve any technology skills now tend to. Take a primary school teacher, they 10 years ago they wouldn’t have even though about computers and technology in their day job. However now, many teachers in fact use computers and technology every day. They may use computer to type up a class plan or show a presentation to the class. The government are very much keen to in-courage the use of technology in schools and is now giving funding to the majority of schools across the UK.
For larger businesses and industry, technology has also change they way they complete their jobs. As with teachers, many peoples jobs require some use of ICT that didn’t say 10 years ago. For almost any job these days having ICT skills has almost become the norm. This is however having a downside on the IT illiterate people. For many ICT skills can be tedious and a somewhat scary new experience. As jobs these days tend to use ICT almost anywhere and everywhere, more and more people have to obtain ICT skills to even stand a chance of being an applicant for job. In large business the ICT unit(s) are growing and growing with numerous jobs opening up. For say a “network manager” can be divided up into roles such as “assistant network manager” or “network architect”. ICT is just so big that in many cases on job in a section of ICT is not enough. People in ICT are also learning to become more “specialised” in sectors such a “graphics” and “server technology”.

Recruitment through the use of changing technology is also a massive industry in the 21st century. Many people can apply for a range of jobs using computer not necessarily involving ICT at all. Many now decided to write CV’s using computers as it can be a lot easier to edit than in fact hand writing it. Also, computer offer people that chance to change font styles of produce numerous copies of something. People can also apply for jobs over the internet using various agencies. Using the internet, people can search for specific jobs matching specific criteria rather than spending pointless hours streaming through newspaper ads. As well as applying for jobs over the internet people can place their CV’s on the internet using various services. On popular service is “Monster”. Monster enables people to post their CV’s on the internet for other to see the prospective employers or agencies can scout you out using these types of services.
